Claims For Emergency Health Services Provided To Undocumented Aliens To Be Processed By TrailBlazer Health Enterprises, LLC, Announces CMS

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that it has awarded a contract to TrailBlazer Health Services, LLC as the designated national contractor for § 1011, Federal Reimbursement of Emergency Health Services Furnished To Undocumented Aliens, of the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003, according to a July 7 release.

CMS said that TrailBlazer will be responsible for enrolling eligible providers, assisting with enrollment and billing questions, calculating provider payment amounts, and serving as the compliance contractor.

Providers will be able to submit electronic § 1011 enrollment applications in mid-August and payment requests by mid-October, the agency said. CMS also identified a Web site, http://www.trailblazerhealth.com/section1011, which it says will contain information on the enrollment process, claims processing, appeals procedures, and other pertinent information.

CMS also announced that it is revising the Provider Enrollment Application to reflect a change to the mailing address, and is seeking public comment regarding the extension of a currently approved information collections, Provider Payment Determination and Request for Section 1011 On-Call Payments, Form No: CMS-10130 (OMB # 09380952).
